New Blog on Audiobooks Debuts

Troy, Mich. (PRWEB) May 6, 2009 -- A new blog focused on the audiobook experience and including reviews of audiobooks and wide-ranging commentary on this fast-growing segment of the publishing business officially went live today at www.audiobookjunkies.com.

The blog will be a clearinghouse for information, reviews, dialogue, and opinions about the entire range of books presented in audio format, including both fiction and nonfiction.

The following extract is from the Audiobook Junkies "About" page by site authors James Bain and Paul L. Hall:

"As our name suggests, our enthusiasm for audiobooks verges on addiction, but we pride ourselves on our independence, critical incisiveness and frankness. Not to mention our irreverence. It will quickly become obvious that we have genre and subject matter preferences. We won't get to everything, but that's where our visitors come in. We look forward to comments on your special interests, especially the ones we're almost certain to neglect."

According to Bain and Hall (who, together have listened to more than 800 aubiobooks), Audiobook Junkies will feature occasional promotions in which visitors to the site can win audiobook CDs.

A recent survey by the Audiobook Publishers Association found that sales of audiobooks now exceed $1 billion per year and that nearly 30 percent of Americans have listened to an audiobook.
